Show Doheny Some Love!
Join the first Adopt a Beach cleanup of 2019 at Doheny State Beach on Saturday, February 16th.

Looking for a fun way to “share the love”? How about giving a popular local beach a valentine? The Doheny Beach Interpretive Association invites you to join concerned citizens on Saturday, February 16th as they give storm littered Doheny State Beach a badly needed cleanup.
Volunteers are asked to bring their own gloves and meet at the lifeguard headquarters adjacent to the mouth of San Juan Creek. The cleanup will take place from 9 AM to noon.

Doheny, like all our Southland beaches, is the repository for storm run off from inland Orange County. Along with all that dirty rain water, which carries much needed silt for sand replenishment, comes unwanted styrofoam, plastics, glass, driftwood, and even syringes, shopping carts, and other trash that has no place on a beach. Recent heavy rains, including a storm on Valentine’s Day, left behind quite a mess. Doheny is littered with plant material, driftwood and litter which become hazards to beach goers and navigation.
