6 CA Gubernatorial Candidates To Appear In San Diego Forum

Leading candidates such as Antonio Villaraigosa and John Chiang will appear, but Gavin Newsom will not.

SAN DIEGO, CA -- Six candidates for California governor, including Antonio Villaraigosa and John Chiang, are expected to appear in San Diego this month for a forum. The forum, however, will not include leading candidate Gavin Newsom.

The forum will be held at the 2018 California Council for the Social Studies annual conference, and will be co-hosted by The San Diego Union-Tribune and ABC 10News. Scheduled to take place at 10:30 a.m. March 25 at the Town and Country Resort and Conference Center, it will also feature the following candidates:

· Travis Allen (Republican) Member, California State Assembly
· John Cox (Republican) Business Executive
· Delaine Eastin (Democrat) Former State Superintendent of Public Instruction
· Doug Ose (Republican) Business Owner/Former Member of Congress

The forum, which is expected to attract more than 1,000 attendees, will be moderated by Matt Hall, the opinion director for the Union-Tribune. Candidates will field questions from a panel of journalists that includes: Chris Reed, deputy editorial and opinion editor for the Union-Tribune, and Michael Smolens, columnist for the Union-Tribune, and Lindsey Peña, anchor for 10News, according to a press release.
