Fatal Meeting of 2 Young Women: Toyota Driver Kills Pedestrian on Overpass

Police say driver was 22 and victim was 23 in accident on La Jolla Village Drive at Interstate 5.

A 23-year-old woman crossing a street with a friend was fatally struck by a car in La Jolla early Saturday, authorities said.

The crash on the La Jolla Village Drive-Interstate 5 overpass happened at 1:24 a.m., said San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

The victim, who was walking north, was struck by a westbound Toyota Corolla driven by a 22-year-old woman, he said.

The Traffic Division is investigating the accident. No other details were immediately available.
