Pulitzer Prize-Winning Journalist to Talk 'Race, Privilege, and Immigration'

Pulitzer prize-winning journalist, filmmaker and immigration rights activist Jose Antonio Vargas will speak at UC San Diego Feb. 25.

Pulitzer prize-winning journalist, filmmaker and immigration rights activist Jose Antonio Vargas will visit UC San Diego to speak on the topic of “Race, Privilege and Immigration in the U.S.” The event is free and open to the public. About Vargas:

In a June 2011 essay in The New York Times Magazine, Vargas revealed his status as an undocumented immigrant in an effort to promote dialogue about the immigration system in the U.S. Vargas recently produced a new film, “Documented,” which chronicles his journey from the Philippines to the U.S. as a child, his experiences as an immigration reform activist and his voyage inward as he re-connects with his mother, whom he hasn’t seen in person in more than 20 years.
