Paradise Point Resort 'Adopts' Ocean Beach Elementary School

OCEAN BEACH, CA –Paradise Point Resort & Spa of San Diego announced this week that it is collaborating with Ocean Beach Elementary through the Adopt-a-School Program -- in what will manifest as a mutually beneficial partnership with perks for students and teachers , plus volunteer and service opportunities for hotel employees.

The Paradise Point team will dedicate time, funds and experiences to support the school, and lend their skills and support to the after-school program, recess monitoring and classroom activities.

“Community involvement is so important to us, and we look forward to supporting the students, parents and faculty of Ocean Beach Elementary and lending our resources to support future generations, " said Michael Stephens, Paradise Point general manager.

Students at Ocean Beach Elementary, meanwhile, will have opportunities to visit the resort to learn about the tourism industry, shadow the resort team, learn about food preparation with the chefs and island flora and fauna from the recreation department, and participate in guided meditation and yoga, hotel managment said.

"As a Title 1 school, we are always on the lookout for available resources and the Paradise Point team has been extremely generous in offering support to Ocean Beach Elementary," said Marco Drapeau, principal at Ocean Beach Elementary. "I know this partnership will be very beneficial for us, and we’re proud to have such an iconic San Diego resort supporting our efforts.”

Paradise Point also plans to open up its facilities for school workshops, planning retreats and parent-teacher conferences, plus launch a teacher-of-the-month recognition program. Outstanding performance by Ocean Beach Elementary teachers will be rewarded with "curated" experiences at the hotel, resort officials said.
