A San Diego man Wednesday caught a 662.2-pound blue marlin, which he says is the biggest weighed in the state of California since 1931.

“We were fishing for marlin and wahoo, especially marlin, when it hit the lure,” Santora told the San Diego Tribune. “We had a good feeling we were going to get a marlin, and when it bit, we knew it was a marlin. We just didn’t dream it was this big. But once she jumped, we knew.”
The Tribune reported the catch happened nine miles from Point Loma, and that the fish was weighed at the San Diego Marlin Club.
