I-5 Closure Planned Overnight For Construction Project

LA JOLLA, CA – A section of southbound Interstate 5 will be closed overnight Thursday for construction, according to the San Diego Association of Governments. Southbound I-5 will be closed from the I-805 merge to La Jolla Village Drive from 9:30 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.

Traffic will be diverted from I-5 onto I-805 as crews work on temporary support structures on the Gilman Drive bridge project, agency officials said. SANDAG, in partnership with UC San Diego and Caltrans, is building the bridge over I-5 at Gilman Drive, just north of the La Jolla Village Drive interchange.

Motorists should expect delays. The agency urged drivers to seek alternate routes to avoid congestion.
