Sprint & T-Mobile Proposed Merger: Public Forum Set Tonight

SAN DIEGO, CA –The California Public Utilities Commission will hold a public forum Thursday to take feedback on a proposed merger between Sprint and T-Mobile.

The two telecommunications companies filed applications with the CPUC in July 2018 to allow T-Mobile to acquire Sprint and its subsidiaries. The $26.5 billion merger was also filed in June 2018 with the Federal Communications Commission. Once a merger is complete, the combined telecommunications company would serve roughly 100 million customers.

The CPUC is now asking Sprint and T-Mobile customers to comment on the proposed merger and will take heed of the comments when making a decision on the sale. The CPUC has also held public forums on the merger in Fresno and Los Angeles over the past two days.

The forum is expected to begin at 6 p.m. at the County Operations Center's Hearing Room at 5520 Overland Ave. According to the CPUC, commissioners or their staff may attend the discussion but will not take action on the item.

Residents who may not be able to attend the forum can send written comments to the CPUC's headquarters in San Francisco or via email to public.advisor@cpuc.ca.gov.
