55-Hour I-15 Onramp Closure Planned In Lake Elsinore

Other closures are also planned this week as part of the $41 million Interstate 15 Railroad Canyon Road Interchange project.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA โ€” The Interstate 15 southbound onramp at Railroad Canyon Road will be closed this weekend as construction crews continue work at the interchange.

From 9 p.m. Friday, January 8 to 4 a.m. Monday, January 11, the onramp will be closed for paving as part of the $41 million Interstate 15 Railroad Canyon Road Interchange project, according to the Riverside County Transportation Commission.

The RCTC is advising motorists to expect delays, allow extra travel time, and use the southbound I-15 Main Street onramp as a detour.

Meanwhile, city officials announced that several closures are planned this week as part of the ongoing interchange project, including:

  • Lane closure on Summerhill Drive that begins Monday night.
  • Nighttime closures of the I-15 southbound offramp
  • Nighttime closures of lanes #2 and #3 on the I-15 south
  • Railroad Canyon Road eastbound #2 lane
  • Summerhill Drive southbound #2 lane to close Monday night through Friday night for hydrant work

The interchange project, which is designed to improve safety and reduce congestion in the area, is slated to wrap up in late 2022.
