Alleged Kidnapping Ends In Lake Elsinore With Arrest

LAKE ELSINORE, CA โ€” A woman who was allegedly kidnapped Tuesday by a man she knew and taken to Lake Elsinore was safe Wednesday.

The victim, whose identity was not released, said she was driven from the Hemet area to the 33000 block of El Contento Drive by Rene Trujillo Perez, 46, of Lake Elsinore. During the trip, the woman tried to escape from the vehicle, according to a report from Riverside County Sheriff's Sgt. R. Thomas.

Once Perez arrived in Lake Elsinore, he took the woman's purse and forced her out of the car, Thomas continued.

When deputies arrived on scene, the woman pointed them to Perez's place of work in the 16500 block of Lakeshore Drive where he was subsequently arrested at 4:20 p.m. on suspicion of kidnapping, false imprisonment, petty theft and committing a crime while on bail, according to Thomas.

Jail records show Perez is being held at Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta in lieu of $55,000 bail. He is due to appear in court Thursday.

Perez's relationship to the woman was not disclosed.
