We found the 1 in a 1,000,000! The donor coming from South Carolina is a high-quality match for my husband!! We are beyond excited because my husband (Erik Vanderburgh) has been struggling with kidney disease his entire life. This impending transplant is his third transplant – all from living kidney donors. Mrs. Donna Moore will be traveling from Lexington, South Carolina to Los Angeles, California to save my husband’s life. Mrs. Moore will be accompanied by Dean, her beloved and equally caring husband with a golden heart.

Mrs. Moore started a GoFundMe campaign to cover costs that our grant cannot cover for the donor (such as lost wages) to travel from South Carolina to California for the transplant and recovery time.

Mrs. Moore is the 1 in the 1,000,000 we have been searching the world for and she is the one!! We are beyond happy to know my husband and our entire family will resume our lives which have been on hold since 2016. We will likely welcome more birthday parties and more family gatherings and now, we have Mrs. Moore and her family to welcome into our lives. We are beyond grateful.

My husband has been quite ill, and this is a life-saving procedure for him. We have started moving boxes of dialysis solutions to the front door because he is no longer on the machine at night since night-time dialysis was no longer helping him. Coronavirus is not postponing this because this is not elective surgery. The transplant will take place at UCLA and the hospital has strict protocol in place for disease and infection control.

The donor is donating to my husband out of kindness. We cannot give her any money to donate, so we are relying on the goodness in others to donate to the campaign.
