Blaze Burns Hillside in Nuevo

NUEVO, CA โ€” A brush fire erupted Tuesday afternoon on a hillside in Nuevo, scorching about three acres in a half-hour.

The non-injury blaze broke out for unknown reasons around 3:15 p.m. in the area of Eureka Street and Water Avenue, about a mile southwest of Lake Perris, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

More than a dozen engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames burning at a moderate rate through light vegetation, according to reports from the scene. The brusher was not posing an immediate threat to homes as of 4 p.m.
