CHP To Crack Down On 'Errant Drivers' Along State Route 74
On April 13, local CHP will be out in "full force" on State Route 74, between Lake Elsinore and Perris, looking for "errant drivers."

Local vehicle crashes that result in death or injury usually begin with a speeding or aggressive driver, according to an officer with the California Highway Patrolโs Temecula office.
Now armed with a federal grant, local CHP will be out in โfull forceโ on State Route 74, between Lake Elsinore and Perris, on April 13, looking for โerrant drivers,โ according to Temecula CHP Officer Nathan Baer.
โOfficers will be looking for violations of speed, unsafe passing, following too close, and improper turning as well as seat belt and distracted driving (i.e., cellular phone and texting violations),โ he said in a news release today.

โThe California Highway Patrol takes a proactive approach in keeping our roadways safe.ย The 'RADIATES' grant allows our dedicated highway patrol officers to enhance highway safety, by addressing speed, unsafe turning movement and other accident causing violations through education and enforcement,โ Temecula Area CHP Captain Ernie Sanchez said in the release.
The RADIATES grant, which stands for โReduce Aggressive Driving Incidents and Tactically Enforce Speed,โ was funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
