Deadly Crash Reported In Lake Elsinore

The victim has since been identified in the weekend incident.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA โ€” A man was killed in a crash over the weekend in Lake Elsinore, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reports. The victim has since been identified as 63-year-old Aldon Demara, according to coroner's reports. Demara was a resident of Lake Elsinore.

The deadly incident happened around 8:45 p.m. Saturday in the 31000 block of Riverside Drive, near Joy Street, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

"Upon arrival, deputies learned a pedestrian was attempting to cross Riverside Drive when he was struck by a Toyota Prius driving westbound," Sgt. Ray Ricken said in a news release. "The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene."

The Prius driver, who was not hurt, was questioned by deputies but not arrested. The wreck prompted the closure of Riverside Drive in the area for more than three hours.

The investigation is ongoing, according to Ricken.
