Deputy-Involved Shooting Shuts Down Interstate 215 Near Menifee

MENIFEE, CA — A deputy-involved shooting Tuesday prompted the complete shutdown of Interstate 215 near Sun City, a Riverside County Sheriff's Department sergeant confirmed.

Shortly before 6 p.m., Sgt. Deanna Pecoraro told Patch the shooting occurred south of Ethanac Road. She was at the scene and said more details will be released as they become available. No deputies were injured.

In the meantime, the freeway was closed in both directions between state Route 74 and McCall Boulevard, she said. The freeway remained closed through the night but was fully reopened early Wednesday morning.

Details about the shooting were expected Wednesday.
