Explosive Device Found On Wildomar Trail

The apparent pipe bomb was found by a citizen in the 32000 block of Wildomar Trail.

WILDOMAR, CA โ€” An apparent pipe bomb found Thursday in Wildomar did contain explosives, but the Riverside County Sheriffโ€™s Department Hazard Device Team disabled the device before anyone was hurt.

The device was found by a citizen around 8:55 a.m. in the 32000 block of Wildomar Trail.

"The metal on the device appeared weathered and more than likely had been discarded at the location some time ago," according to the sheriff's department.

Deputies evacuated the immediate area and temporarily locked down Wildomar Elementary School for safety reasons.

After confirming the device contained explosives, the Hazard Device Team disabled it, and the evacuation, and school and road closures were lifted, the sheriff's department reported.
