Fire Burns Structure, Blackens Brush Near Cleveland Nat'l Forest

CORONA, CA — A brush fire that erupted Monday south of Corona damaged an unoccupied structure and burned just over an acre before it was contained.

The non-injury "Bedford Fire" was reported about 1:10 p.m. on the northeast rim of the Cleveland National Forest, near Bedford Motor Way and Knabe Road, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Multiple engine crews were sent to the location and encountered flames advancing slowly in heavy brush, threatening a structure, according to reports from the scene.

Two Cal Fire air tankers and a water-dropping helicopter were called in to make runs on the brusher, which damaged the vacant property.

The fire was declared 100 percent contained at 1:46 p.m. Firefighters were expected to remain at the scene until at least 4 p.m.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
