Fire Rips Through Perris Apartment Building

A total of eight apartment units were damaged by fire and water, fire officials say.

PERRIS, CA - A fire damaged a Perris apartment complex Monday morning, displacing a half-dozen tenants, but no injuries were reported.

The blaze broke out for unknown reasons just before 7 a.m. at the Park Town Apartments in the 200 block of Wilson Avenue, according to Cal Fire Riverside's April Newman.

The first firefighters to arrive at the scene reported smoke and fire coming from the top floor of one of the two-story buildings, with evacuations in progress.

It took nearly an hour for crews to get the fire under control, Newman said.

A total of eight apartment units were damaged by fire and water, according to Newman, who said the American Red Cross was assisting six adults displaced by the fire.
