Harkins Theaters To Reopen Moreno Valley Location This Week

Most of California will move under the red coronavirus reopening tier this week, which means movie theaters will be able to reopen.

MORENO VALLEY, CA โ€” After a year of closure for some locations, Harkins Theaters is preparing to reopen four locations in California this week.

As coronavirus cases remain low and vaccinations rise, officials announced that most of the state would be moving under less restrictive guidelines by mid-week โ€” and ones that allow theaters to open in most counties.

Thirteen counties โ€” including Los Angeles, Orange and San Bernardino โ€” will be eligible to move into the red tier on the state's COVID-19 accessing blueprint on Sunday. Under the red tier, indoor movie theaters can open at 25 percent of the facility's capacity or 100 people, whichever is fewer.

Harkins' Moreno Valley 16 theater will reopen Wednesday and has begun selling tickets for some of the following films:

Theaters have struggled to keep the lights on and maintain operations during the era of coronavirus in California, as most indoor businesses were forced to close again in the winter after a brief reprieve during the summer.

To combat the possibility of spread, Harkins Theaters will enforce socially distanced seating with safety shields installed throughout the theater. Loyalty cup refills will be filled in a disposable cup and face coverings will be required for both guests and staff.
