Lake Elsinore Man Accused Of Unlawful Sex With Child Under 14

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — A 26-year-old Lake Elsinore man remained in county jail Monday in lieu of $2 million bail following his arrest on suspicion of sex with a child under 14 years old.

Gerardo Villagran was arrested Friday morning and booked into Southwest Detention Center on multiple felony charges, including unlawful sex with an underage minor, oral copulation with a child under 14, forceful lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, distributing harmful material to a minor, and sending/possessing obscene material, jail records show.

Formal charges were expected to be filed.

Villagran's arrest occurred after Lake Elsinore Sheriff's Station investigators attempted to question him at his home Friday morning. He fled out the back door and was found hiding in a shed. Deputies took him into custody without incident, the sheriff's department reported.

Villagran's relationship to the victim, if any, was not publicly detailed.

Jail records show Villagran was due in court Tuesday.
