Lake Elsinore Man Dies in Homemade Plane Crash

The plane hit a cell phone tower near Lake Matthews Sunday. A female passenger was ejected from the plane and sustained moderate injuries.

The Riverside County coronerโ€™s office released the name of the man killed when a small plane crashed into a cell phone tower near Lake Matthews.

He was 55-year-old William Dalo of Lake Elsinore, according to the coronerโ€™s office.

Firefighters responded to the downed aircraft in the 20300 block of Farley Avenue, east of Corona off Cajalco Road, at 12:14 p.m. Sunday, said Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.

The homemade plane crashed into a cell tower and much of the wreckage became entangled in the structure, Hagemann said. A woman was ejected from the plane and sustained moderate injuries. She was taken to a hospital.

The National Transportation Safety Board was investigating the crash, the coronerโ€™s office said.
