A citizen oversight committee would be formed to monitor how Measure Z funds are spent and make recommendations to the City Council on future expenditures.
Currently, nearly all of the sales tax generated locally goes to the state or county, according to the city.
"Measure Z requires all funds to be used in Lake Elsinore, ensuring that a higher percentage of our sales tax dollars stay here for local City services. By law, no funds can be taken by the state, county or federal government," according to the city.
