Lane Closures Ahead Amid Railroad Canyon Interchange Construction

LAKE ELSINORE, CA — Drivers in Lake Elsinore this week can expect intermittent overnight lane closures through Friday as work continues at the I-15/Railroad Canyon Road Interchange.

In a community news update, the City of Lake Elsinore said lane closures should be expected on Grape Street, Summerhill Drive, Diamond Drive, Casino Drive and Railroad Canyon Road.

Residents can sign up to receive weekly construction and closure updates by texting "RAILROAD" to 772-22.

Work on the I-15/Railroad Canyon interchange is expected to take approximately 2.5 years to complete, Patch reported previously. Construction on the $3.4 began in July.

County documents show the project is intended to "improve safety and reduce congestion," add two new lanes on Railroad Canyon Road through the interchange, reconstruct two northbound ramps, add auxiliary and deceleration lanes on I-15 and improve sidewalks and bike lanes through the interchange.
