'Leap Day' Was Record-Breaking HOT In Riverside County
Palm Springs airport actually hit 90 degrees.

RIVERSIDE COUNTY, CA - Temperatures leaped to record highs Monday in three Riverside County locations amid another winter heat wave.
The Riverside topped out at 86 degrees, beating the previous record high for Leap Day of 84 set in 1968, according to the National Weather Service. The high in Idyllwild was 72 degrees, breaking the previous record of 70 set in 1968.
The high at Palm Springs International Airport was 90, breaking the previous record of 88 set in 1972. Meteorologists noted a โlimited data setโโ to draw comparisons because itโs a leap year, and Feb. 29 only comes around every four years.
