LEUSD Fall Start Date Aug. 12: Options Include Online, Classroom
Currently, K-12 schools are ordered closed through June 19 under Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser.
LAKE ELSINORE, CA โ The Lake Elsinore Unified School District plans to start the 2020-21 academic school year Aug. 12, but parents have a say in how student learning will take place amid coronavirus concerns.
Traditional instruction in a classroom setting; "blending learning," which combines online learning with some in-school instruction; and full-time online learning are the instructional models being offered. The district is asking parents and guardians to indicate their main learning preference via an online survey (see below).
"The instructional learning models are designed to be flexible for student families, while adhering to the prevailing health orders for schools at the time of reopening (e.g., social distancing and related safety protocols). All three options will be offered in 2020-2021," according to the LEUSD.

"By taking advantage of these offerings, we can develop student schedules and attendance patterns for safe distancing during school time. This will be accomplished while meeting cleaning, social distancing, and related public health protocols when schools are again in session," the district said.
The learning options will reinstate classroom grades and accountability measures that were suspended during COVID-19 distance learning activities under the โstay at homeโ order.

While Aug. 12 is the planned fall start date in the LEUSD, health orders could derail it. Currently, K-12 schools are ordered closed through June 19 under Riverside County Public Health Officer Dr. Cameron Kaiser.
The district is asking that parents/guardians complete the survey by May 22, 2020.
