LAKE ELSINORE, CA โ€” Development of a new retail center on a highly visible stretch of Lakeshore Drive was recently approved by the Lake Elsinore City Council.

In a 5-0 vote, the council gave a green light on June 22 to applicant Lakeview Centre, LLC, to build four buildings at the 3.9-acre vacant site located at the corner of Lakeshore Drive at Manning Street, on the northeast side of the lake.

The proposed Lakeview Plaza promises to offer "neighborhood shopping" and two restaurants. The Plaza would include a total of 43,120 square feet of interior and 207 parking spaces, according to city documents.

Traffic access would be from either of two new driveways to be constructed โ€” one on Lakeshore Drive and one on Manning Street. A traffic signal would be installed at the Lakeshore Drive driveway.

A study revealed the project would have potentially significant environmental impacts but those could be mitigated "to less than significant levels," according to the city.
