Pedestrian Struck, Killed Near Perris Was 'Highly Intoxicated'

The man was struck on Clark Street, just north of Cajalco Road. He was hospitalized but died from his injuries.

MEAD VALLEY, CA โ€” A 54-year-old Perris man who was struck and killed while walking on Clark Street in Mead Valley Saturday night was "highly intoxicated," according to a preliminary report from the California Highway Patrol.

The man was crossing the street, just north of Cajalco Road, around 6:45 p.m. when he was hit by a female driver in a Honda, according to the report from CHP Officer Juan Quintero.

The man, identified by the Riverside County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau as Rudolfo Orozco, died at approximately 11:20 p.m. Saturday at Riverside University Health System-Medical Center in Moreno Valley.

"The front of the Honda struck the pedestrian, resulting in major injuries to the pedestrian. The preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was highly intoxicated at the time of the collision," the report from Quintero said.

The driver stopped and was cooperating with CHP investigators.
