Rain Continues to Soak Riverside County

The recent rains that have fallen on the Inland Empire since Thursday morning are expected to continue through Monday, as rain gauges begin to fill to the one-inch mark.

The National Weather Service released rainfall totals from Thursday morning through Saturday at 11 a.m:

Lake Elsinore .82

Murrieta .63

Temecula .55

The National Weather Service said rain was expected to persist for the next 24 to 48 hours as onshore flow increases in ahead of a cold upper-level trough headed down the coast through Monday.

“This was a welcome and beneficial rain for the area including the deserts, where little rain has fallen so far this season,” forecasters reported on the NWS website. “It is not quite over yet either.”

The National Weather Service forecast:

Saturday afternoon: Scattered showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 63. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent.

Saturday night: A 40 percent chance of showers. Areas of fog. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 44. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday: A 50 percent chance of showers, mainly before 4 p.m. Areas of fog before 10 a.m. Otherwise, partly sunny, with a high near 57. South wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Sunday night: A 30 percent chance of showers, mainly after 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 40. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.

Monday: A 40 percent chance of showers, mainly before 10 a.m. Mostly sunny, with a high near 53. Northwest wind around 10 mph.

Monday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 32.
