UPDATED: 'Severe Thunderstorm Warning' Issued for Lake Elsinore
NWS officials say a possible tornado was spotted east of San Clemente following their alert.

Update:
The National Weather Service cancelled the warning at 2 p.m. Wednesday as planned, issuing the following message:
THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FOR SOUTHEASTERN ORANGE...
RIVERSIDE AND NORTHWESTERN SAN DIEGO COUNTIES EXPIRED AT 200 PM
PST...
THE SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WHICH PROMPTED THE WARNING HAS WEAKENED
THEREFORE THE WARNING WAS ALLOWED TO EXPIRE. WIND GUSTS OF 40 TO
60 MPH OCCURRED WITH THESE STORMS AND A POSSIBLE SIGHTING OF A BRIEF
TORNADO EAST OF SAN CLEMENTE.

The National Weather Service in San Diego issued a warning Wednesday afternoon for Riverside County.
โAt 1 p.m. PST, doppler radar indicated a cluster of severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging winds in excess of 60 mph,โ an alert from the agency stated. โOne storm was located over northeastern Camp Pendleton, and moving northeast at 25 mph. Another storm is moving towards Fallbrook. A third cells is over open water moving towards Oceanside.
โThe potential for a waterspout or brief tornado is possible given the unstable environment. Hail is possible with these storms.โ
The agency listed the impacted locations as:
- Oceanside
- Carlsbad
- Temecula
- Vista
- San Clemente
- Encinitas
- Southern Lake Elsinore
- Del Mar
- Valley Center
- Fallbrook
The warning goes until 2 p.m.
