Teenage Boy Charged as Adult in Killing of Temecula at Lake Elsinore Hotel

A 16-year-old boy was charged as an adult Tuesday in the weekend shooting death of 15-year-old Gage Seal at a Lake Elsinore hotel.

Ryan Jawad is charged with one count each of murder and possession of stolen property, with a sentence-enhancing firearm-use allegation, according to a spokesman for the Riverside County District Attorneyโ€™s Office.

His initial court appearance was scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at the Southwest Justice Center.

Seal of Temecula was shot in the 31000 block of Auto Center Drive about 12:45 a.m. Sunday, Sgt. Wallace Clear said.

On Monday, a group of his Temecula Valley High School classmates held a vigil and added trinkets to a makeshift memorial at the campus.

According to ABC7, โ€œThe motive for the shooting has not been determined. Classmates said there was a party at the motel that night.โ€

NBC4 reports, โ€œFamily members say it appears another teenager began playing with a gun and fatally shot Seal.โ€
