Woman Carjacked At Gunpoint In Lake Elsinore
Carlos Venegas, 26, of Lake Elsinore has been named as the suspect.

LAKE ELSINORE, CA โ A felon suspected in a violent Lake Elsinore carjacking remained jailed Wednesday.
Lake Elsinore resident Carlos Venegas, 26, is in custody at Murrieta's Southwest Detention Center on suspicion of carjacking, assault with a deadly weapon, evading police/reckless driving, felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, and violating state parole, jail records show.
Venegas was arrested by Lake Elsinore sheriff's deputies just before midnight on January 8 at Machado Street and Lakeshore Drive. The deputies pursued him following a report of a carjacking at gunpoint around 11 p.m. that same night in the 29000 block of Lupine Hills Drive.

"The victim reported her car taken at gunpoint," according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
No bail has been set for Venegas, who was due in court Wednesday.
