Woman Killed In Head-On Crash In Perris ID'd

Coroner's officials say the woman died at the hospital following the wreck.

PERRIS, CA โ€” Coroner's officials Sunday publicly identified a 78-year- old woman who was killed in a head-on crash involving two pickup trucks in Perris. Deputies were dispatched to the crash scene at 11:24 a.m. Friday and found that both motorists and some passengers suffered injuries.

A motorist driving a Ford F-150 was stopped facing eastbound in the left turn lane on West Fourth Street waiting to turn northbound on Navajo Road when a Nissan Frontier going westbound on West Fourth Street veered into the turn lane and struck the Ford head on, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department reported.

Marina Pena De Reyes of Hemet, who was a passenger in the Ford, was transported to Riverside University Health System Medical Center, where she died from her injuries.

Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors in the crash, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department said.

The sheriff's Perris station asked anyone who witnessed the crash to call them at 951-210-1078.
