Monday night I attended the Foothill Ranch Main HOA meeting as part of my “Listen and Learn” program. Last week I was at Portola Hills 1 HOA and in a few weeks I’ll be at Forest Gardens.
The FHR meeting had an excellent presentation from Irvine Ranch Water District employee Shavon, and I wanted to share the information with everyone.
IRWD has a program whereby they will come and inspect your property to be sure that everything is working right and your square footage in their records is correct. One gentleman is now saving $20 per month as a result of this inspection.

IRWD also has incentive programs for turf removal, water-saving toilets, energy efficient washing machines, and water saving sprinkler nossles. Hundreds of dollars are available in rebates.
At my HOA (Lake 1) we have replaced tens of thousands of square feet of turf with native plants, and the savings from doing this has more than paid for the labor involved. IRWD pays $2 for every square foot removed.
