Col. Cagley, Former Councilman, Remembered In Lake Forest

The city of Lake Forest expresses their condolences for the loss of retired Army Col. and former council member Thomas Cagley.

LAKE FOREST, CA — City leaders on Friday expressed condolences to the family and friends of former City Councilmember and retired US Army Colonel Thomas Cagley, who passed away on October 24.

Col. Cagley was a member of the City Council from January to November 2018, but his service
to the community and country goes much deeper than those 11 months. After serving in the US
Army for 37 years, Col. Cagley served on the Orange County Grand Jury, and was a member of
the Texas Emergency Reaction Center for six years, during which he responded to natural
disasters.

While on the City Council, Col. Cagley represented Lake Forest on the OC Library Advisory Board
and the Joint Powers Insurance Authority. He also was a founder of the Lake Forest US Marine
Corps Support Committee.

Col. Cagley did not seek re-election to the Council because his wife, Nancy, was battled an
illness. She preceded him in death. The couple married in 2012.

“Our sincere condolences go out to Col. Cagley’s family and friends,” Mayor Mark Tettemer said.
“All of Lake Forest is thankful to Col. Cagley not only for his service to the City but to the
Country.”
