Coronavirus Vaccines Coming To CVS Near Lake Forest

IRVINE, CA — CVS, after a concentrated effort to provide coronavirus testing to area residents since the pandemic began, will now start vaccinating residents, the company says. CVS will follow the state eligibility rules in setting appointments, starting Feb. 9, and will begin vaccinations on Feb. 11, they reported Tuesday.

Approximately 81,900 total doses are on "limited rollout" to CVS, sourced directly from the federal pharmacy partnership program.

In Orange County, CVS Pharmacies located in Huntington Beach, Irvine, and Newport Beach will administer the vaccines.

Elsewhere in California, residents can find vaccines at CVS Pharmacies in Agoura Hills, Bakersfield, Carmel, Carlsbad, Chula Vista, Clovis, Eureka, La Jolla, Los Angeles, Modesto, Monterey, San Diego, San Francisco, Sonoma, Sunnyvale, Ventura, and Yuba City.

More local locations will be made available as the chain is allotted more doses, a spokesperson says.

CVS Health President and Chief Executive Officer Karen S. Lynch spoke on the upcoming vaccination effort.

Vaccines at participating CVS Pharmacy locations in California will be available to individuals meeting state criteria, which the state will confirm in advance of the rollout.

On or after Feb. 9, patients must register in advance at CVS.com or through the CVS Pharmacy app, and people without online access can contact CVS customer service: (800) 746-7287.

Walk-in vaccinations without an appointment will not be provided.

The availability of COVID-19 vaccines in California is part of an initial 11 state rollout. It includes approximately 335 CVS Pharmacy locations across Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Texas, and Virginia. Vaccines will eventually be available at CVS Pharmacy locations throughout the country, subject to product availability, with the capacity to administer 20 – 25 million shots per month.

In addition to making COVID-19 vaccines available in local pharmacy locations, CVS Health continues to make progress in its effort to vaccinate residents and staff at more than 15,000 long-term care facilities across California.

As of Feb. 1, CVS has administered over 117,000 vaccine doses in California, at 499 Skilled Nursing facilities, and are 78 percent through second doses. As of Jan. 11, they have worked with over 14,500 Assisted Living and Long Term Care facilities and have administered 60 percent of their first doses to 145,142 residents. Over the next seven days, another 3,000 residents across the state will receive their second dose.
