Disneyland Revamps Ride: 'Snow White's Enchanted Wish'

'Snow White's Scary Adventures' is reimagined at Disneyland Resort. See what the Disneyland Imagineers are working on during the closure.

ANAHEIM, CA —While a return behind the Disneyland Main Gates may feel a bit of a fantasy at the end of 2020, Fantasyland has seen a major upgrade during the coronavirus shutdown.

Disneyland Resort Imagineers have reimagined the Snow White ride in Fantasyland, a spokesperson for the theme park announced on the 83rd anniversary of the first full length animated feature, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs."

According to Imagineer Kim Irvine, there have been some "major changes."

"We're finally giving Snow White the happily ever after that she deserves," Lead Imagineer John Gritz says.

Once a "first-person" view of Snow White, with the rider in Snow White's slippers, "Snow White's Scary Adventures," as it has been known since the 1980s, has long been seen one of the iffier rides to take the smallest of passengers. Children have been known to hide from the cackling witch, at least, in this writer's experience. Now, Disney's Imagineers have added Snow White's character to scenes inside the attraction, showing some of the first Disney Princess's happier moments in"Snow White's Enchanted Wish."

Along with the ride changes, the exterior has also gotten a refresh.

"We have a new dancing Snow White character," Gritz says. "The interaction between Snow White and the Dwarfs is really cinematic."

Irvine calls the changes to paint, the scenes, and the story "dazzling."

In the new ride, Snow White gets a dance with Dopey, and the Dwarfs get a bit more time inside their diamond mine. Ultimately, the most important thing of all, Snow White gets her happily ever after by the ride's end.

And isn't that what we're all looking forward to as 2020 comes to a close?

Now, the only question that remains is when we'll get to go inside and witness the changes and updates to Disneyland Resort.
