'Happy Birthday Mickey!' And Minnie, Too! Join The Birthday Party

ANAHEIM, CA — Mickey and Minnie Mouse are officially 92-years-old as of Wednesday, Nov. 18, Disneyland Resort says. The house of mouse is celebrating online amid the coronavirus pandemic with a worldwide show of their favorite cast members posing in their favorite spots.

The celebration rings hollow amid coronavirus closures of the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. Still, a ray of hope is shining for Disney fans with the expansion of Downtown Disney shopping and dining district into Disney California Adventure, starting Thursday, Nov. 19. The resort has themed itself for the holidays, bringing a little Christmas cheer to fans and followers who miss that extra dose of Disney while the world waits for a vaccine for coronavirus.

Disneyland Resort remains the last Walt Disney Co. property to reopen amid the global pandemic, which has resulted in thousands of jobs lost. Businesses in the city of Anaheim, built around tourism and popularity of the park, are suffering from the lack of visitors as officials continue to petition for reopening. As it stands, Disneyland Resort will likely not reopen until 2021, officials say.

From Anaheim to Orlando, from Shanghai to Hawaii, Mickey and Minnie Mouse globetrotted in a birthday "thank you" to their fans, according to a park spokesperson.

"These two have given us so much joy for the 91 years that they have been around. And they couldn’t be more young at heart. So, let’s raise a cake pop to them and celebrate with a full day of fun.
