Lake Forest Christmas Tree Recycling

Are you planning on recycling your tree when the tinsel loses its luster? Here is where to recycle that tree near you.

LAKE FOREST, CA — After the Christmas festivities have come and gone and presents have been unwrapped, what happens to these trees? This year, CR & R of Lake Forest is inviting residents to recycle their trees through its curbside tree collection program.

Christmas Tree curbside collection will take place for a full two weeks following December 25th. (January 9, 2017).

How should you leave your tree, when putting it curbside? Here are some suggestions:
  • Remove all decorations, including tinsel, lights, ornaments and tree stands, and place tree inside green waste cart or at the curb.
  • Place only un-flocked trees at the curb.
  • Trees taller than six feet must be cut in half.
  • Please note that flocked trees cannot be recycled. They will be collected by your trash collector.
  • Orange County residents may also drop-off their Christmas trees to be recycled at Waste Management’s Sunset Environmental Transfer Station which is located at 16122 Construction Circle West, Irvine, Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Saturday 7 a.m. – 5 p.m.
