Lake Forest NJB All-Stars Win Big At National Championships

Players, coaches, and parents as this group of 4th graders headed to Mater Dei High School in March to bring home the prize.

LAKE FOREST, CA — The 4th Grade NJB All-Stars celebrated victory last weekend after 11 games. Held at Mater Dei High School, the team played 11 games, total.

"In the championship round we played against Tracy, Ca, Centennial Hills, Nev., Flagstaff, Az, Vallejo, Calif., and defeated Willow Glen, Calif. in our Final Game," Coach Kevin Doane told Patch.

The championship game was a defensive battle with a score of 25-22.

"It was our lowest point total of the postseason, but credit must be given to Willow Glen for being extremely well coached and disciplined," he said.

This was the first National Junior Basketball championship earned by a Lake Forest team.

"The victory was truly a team effort," Doane said. "10 players, zero egos, every player worked hard and contributed."

The team was led by coaches: Kevin Doane, Scott Smith, and Dave Uribe
