LAKE FOREST, CA — A 59-year-old Irvine driver is under arrest on charges of felony DUI after running a red light and colliding with another car, Irvine police say.

On Saturday, a driver of a white two-door BMW sped through the traffic light at Lake Forest Drive and Bake Parkway, slamming into a four-door BMW out on a test drive, police say.

"The solo driver ran a red light, and collided with the driver's side of a 4-door BMW occupied by two adults on a test drive," Irvine Police say.

The driver and passenger of that 4-door were taken to an area hospital with serious injuries.

Jeffrey Salmi, 59 of Irvine, the driver of the two-door vehicle was arrested on felony DUI.

"This is another reminder that DUI drivers can be on the roads at any time, day or night," the police spokesperson wrote.
