Nolan Arenado Finalizes $255 Million Deal With Rockies
It looks like a monster deal for Rockies' Third Baseman, Nolan Arenado, Sports Illustrated says. Not bad, for the former El Toro player.

LAKE FOREST, CA — A hometown boy makes good again. Former El Toro High School graduate and Lake Forest native Nolan Arenado is in the final stages of extending his contract with the Colorado Rockies, SI.com reported.
Arenado, according to reports, has agreed to extend his contract by eight years that will earn him more than $255 million, they said. The deal, according to Sports Illustrated, includes an opt-out after three years and a "no-trade clause."
The new Rockies contract is the most substantial per-year salary of any position player in baseball, SI.com reported.

Arenado, initially drafted in the second round in 2009, debuted in the major league in 2013. He has consistently produced for the Rockies, has attended four All-Star Games and has taken home that Gold Glove six times, leading the National League in home runs in three out of the last four seasons, SI said.
Arenado helped the Rockies reach the postseason in 2018, for the second time, when he saw his best season yet, according to SI.com. He has an average of 40 home runs and 126 runs batted in per year since 2015, with a .931 OPS, SI.com said.

"They finished second in the National League West at 91-72 before losing to the Brewers in the NLDS," they said. Colorado would finish 8th in home runs, and 7th in runs produced.
Once again, Arenado hits one out of the park with this deal, eclipsing Miguel Cabrera's previous record player salary of $31 million a year.
