OC Animal Care Assists Cops After Dog Abuse, Death

A Pit Bull, known as "Valerie," adopted during a recent clear the shelters event was later found abused and left for dead.

It was a story that pet lovers can barely stomach. A dog, recently adopted at a clear the shelter event, was found abused and left for dead, according to an Orange County rescue group, the Ghetto Rescue FFoundation. What they discovered can only be described as horrifying.

The OC Animal Care staff released a statement after the death of "Valerie," describing what they know and how they are helping find the culprits.

The Orange County Animal Care "staff and volunteers were deeply saddened to learn of (Valerie's) passing and the alleged circumstances involving her death," an OC Animal Care spokesperson said in a recent prepared statement:

"Valerie was with us for three months and was loved by many.

"Although this incident occurred outside of our jurisdiction and we are not the investigating agency, we are working with the local authorities in Los Angeles regarding this case.

"OC Animal Care is providing them all the information we have about Valerie and will continue to assist in their ongoing investigation. The OC Animal Care shelter does not discriminate against those wishing to adopt unless they are suspected of or have been convicted of animal offenses.

"We utilize information about investigations from our own animal control as well as other law enforcement agencies to make this determination," they said.

According to the OC Animal Care shelter, they have removed any possibility of future adoptions by the people who adopted the beloved Pit Bull from the shelter.
