Ring repairs top the list of the most popular repairs during this year’s sales event, which began on January 3rd. “There have been quite a few rings that have chips or small stones missing,” explains The Jewelry Box of Lake Forest co-owner Jack Levenson. “Our master jeweler does those repairs right here in our shop.”

Thin shanks are another top concern. “The shank is the round portion of the ring that surrounds the finger. With wear, this band can become quite thin,” Levenson explained. “This can make the ring uncomfortable to wear, and it’s also increasing the likelihood of breakage and loss.” To repair thin shanks, a master jeweler will replace the thin shank with a thicker one, made of the appropriate precious metal. “It’s like having a brand new ring!”
