The Saddleback Valley Unified School District (SVUSD) will be opening its first STEAM magnet school this year at Santiago Elementary in Lake Forest. STEAM Education focuses on integrating each element (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Design, and Mathematics) into highly engaging projects that not only address California State Standards, but prepares students with the skills necessary for college and careers of the future. Students in this high-level STEAM school will work actively to solve problems, take ownership of their learning, and apply content in real-world contexts using project based learning.
SVUSD’s Superintendent, Dr. Crystal Turner, shares “We are so excited to offer this amazing magnet school to our families. The staff has worked incredibly hard to create curriculum beginning last spring when they were selected. SVUSD is proud to offer specialized learning opportunities for our students.”
