Semi Collides With 57 Fwy Center Divider, Traffic Nightmare In OC

California Highway Patrol Officers closed lanes on the 57 Freeway at Lincoln, diverting traffic after a semi-truck lost control.

ANAHEIM, CA — A traffic collision halted northbound lanes on the 57 freeway at Lincoln Avenue after a semi-truck hauling heavy machinery smashed into the center divider, California Highway Patrol reported. The mangled tractors skittered from the semi-truck, and all required massive cleanup, according to CHP. All drivers were told to avoid the area like the plague until at least after 6 p.m.

Northbound 57 freeway traffic is being diverted onto Lincoln Avenue then north on State College Boulevard to Orangethorpe Avenue, where motorists can re-enter the freeway, CHP said.

The incident also affected traffic patterns on the 91 both east and westbound in was affected from Cerritos heading eastbound, to Yorba Linda, heading west.

The semi-truck was hauling earth-mover type construction equipment when it lost control and careened into the center divider of the 57 freeway. According to reports from the scene, the driver did not strike any other vehicles, and there were no major injuries reported.

Both the semi-truck and the construction vehicles it was hauling were leaking fuel into lanes on both north and southbound sides of the freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The SIGALERT began at approximately 1 p.m. was expected to last until 2 p.m. Wednesday, as the structural integrity of a sign board was inspected.

As of 4:30 p.m., traffic was diverted from northbound 57 at Lincoln Avenue, and the Lincoln onramp onto the 57 freeway was closed at least until after 6 p.m.

As of this report it was not known if there were injuries sustained in the crash.
