Update: Teen Killed, Identified In Lake Forest Trying to Retrieve Skateboard
The victim was pursuing his skateboard when he was struck by an SUV.

Update:
A teen who was fatally stuck by an SUV while trying to retrieve his skateboard in Lake Forest was identified today.
David Valerio, 16, of Mission Viejo, was trying to grab his skateboard on Trabuco Road north of Cherry Avenue about 6:20 p.m. Monday when he was struck by an Acura SUV, sheriff’s officials said.

The boy and a friend were riding skateboards on the Trabuco Road sidewalk when Valerio lost control of his board, which went into the street. The teen was pronounced dead at a hospital.
The SUV driver remained at the scene. Neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the accident, sheriff’s Lt. John Roche said.

A 16-year-old boy who was trying to retrieve his skateboarded after it went into a street in Lake Forest on Monday was struck and killed by a vehicle.
The accident occurred around 6:20 p.m. near the intersection of Trabuco Road and Cherry Avenue, Orange County Sheriff’s Department Lt. John Roche said.
The boy and a friend were riding skateboards on the Trabuco Road sidewalk when the victim lost control of his board, which went into the street, Roche said.
The victim pursued the board and was struck by an Accura SUV, Roche said.
The victim was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Roche said.
The SUV driver remained at the scene. Neither drugs nor alcohol were a factor in the accident, Roche said.
