Average La Mesa Area Gas Price Drops Slightly

The average price typically drops this time of year due to the switch to winter blend gasoline and demand at its lowest level of the year.

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in San Diego County dropped two-tenths of a cent Monday to $3.158 after rising by three-tenths of a cent each of the past two days.

The average price is unchanged from one week ago, a half-cent more than one month ago and 52 cents less than a year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service. It has dropped 44.4 cents since the start of the year.

The average price customarily drops this time of year, because of the combination of the switch to winter blend gasoline, which is cheaper to produce, and demand is at its lowest level of the year.
