Condo Fire in La Mesa Evacuates Neighbors in Early Morning Hours

Update: Friday, 9:30 a.m.

Heartland Fire is reporting that the fire was in an unoccupied two-story unit that was being renovated. The fire was reported to be in the wall area of the condo and in the void spaces between the first and second floors.  The fire was fully contained in approximately 30 minutes.

The cause of the fire is now under investigation and is not considered suspicious in nature.  Damage is estimated at $75,000.

A condominium unit caught fire in La Mesa early Friday but no one was hurt, authorities said.

The noninjury fire at Daybreak Condos at 5715 Baltimore Drive was reported shortly after 6 a.m., according to a Heartland fire dispatcher.

Neighboring residents were evacuated, La Mesa police said.

The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
