Eco Stroke: 4th Annual East County Earth Day at Mt. Helix Park is April 14

For students grades K through 12, The San Diego Zoo and ArtSmarts, Inc will co-sponsor an Endangered Species Art Contest.

The Mt. Helix Park Foundation recently made the following announcement:

Join us for the Fourth Annual East County Earth Day.  You won’t want to miss this free, family-fun event to be held at Mt. Helix Park and Amphitheater. 

Co-hosted by The Jarrett Meeker and Mt. Helix Park Foundations, East County Earth Day will feature eco-friendly vendors such as Birch Aquarium, The California Wolf Center and I Love A Clean San Diego with interactive environmental and wildlife presentations.

The Jan Conner Duo, David Rouillard and George Comes will be performing at the top of the Park while the speaker stage will feature Marion Stacey of The Hummingbird Rescue, The San Diego Zoo, and La Mesa Fair Trade. 

For students grades K through 12, The San Diego Zoo and ArtSmarts, Inc will co-sponsor an Endangered Species Art Contest and for families the all new Earth Day Scavenger Hunt invites sleuths to  navigate the Yawkey Nature Trail and event booths while they decipher clues and solve mysteries for prizes.

For art contest details, a list of vendors, speakers and musical performance times visit our website at www.mthelixpark.org. In conjunction with this event the San Miguel Fire Station will host an open house.  Stop by and say hello to your local fire fighters.

Free parking and shuttles will run from the fire station at 10105 Vivera Drive in La Mesa as well as from Grossmont High School and the Spring Valley & East Communities Center at 3845 Spring Drive. Food is available at the event as well as complimentary water provided by Culligan Water – bring your reusable water bottles and fill up!
