Kawhi Leonard to Lead 2016 Aztec Hall of Fame Class
Leonard is among five star San Diego State University athletes announced as this year's inductees.

SAN DIEGO, CA — Kawhi Leonard, the Most Valuable Player of the National Basketball Association finals in 2014, will lead a class of five star athletes into the Aztec Hall of Fame this fall, San Diego State University announced Friday.
Leonard led SDSU to its first-ever win as a Division 1 school in the NCAA Tournament in 2011 and helped the Aztecs secure a spot in the "Sweet 16." He was also named to All-American and All-Mountain West teams.
Now playing for the San Antonio Spurs, Leonard has twice been named the NBA Defensive Player of the Year and was the runner-up in NBA MVP voting following this past season.

Others selected were:
— football quarterback Leon Parma, 1948-50, for lifetime achievement as a local businessman and Aztec supporter;

— football punter Noel Prefontaine, 1995-96, an All-American who still holds several school records for his position;
— track and field hurdler Miesha McKelvy-Jones, 1997-99, a two-time All- American in the 100-meter hurdles and 2003 bronze medalist at the world championship meet; and
— track and field sprinter Steve Williams, 1973-74, who set the world record in the 100 meters four times between 1973 and 1976, and one time each in the 100-yard and 200-yard dash.

The quintet will be inducted into the Aztec Hall of Fame Oct. 21, and will be recognized later that evening on the field at halftime of SDSU's home football game against San Jose State.
